When my husband and I began exploring ways to start a family we decided that the path that felt most “right” to us was adoption. I am the son of an adopted parent, so I grew up knowing the joy that adoption can bring. Living in Manhattan we chose a private adoption agency in New York but a year later we moved to New Jersey.
Shortly after moving on the recommendation of a friend, we contacted a local foster care agency. I was familiar with foster care through my own family; my mother was adopted and my grandmother throughout her life was a foster parent. As fate would have it the training began that night and a little over four months later we got the call telling us that our (now) son had been born. Bryan Thomson-DiPalma
